Power

The installation of proper insulation in power plants improves thermal efficiency by reducing thermal gradients experienced by steel components such as ductwork, stiffeners, the steel superstructure of the powerhouse and attachments.

High quality insulation increases the structural life of the plant and reduces possible failures due to thermal cycling or thermal stresses.

Appropriate insulation improves the boiler's performance and results in improved heat transfer to the working fluid, and also decreases the plant's rate of fuel consumption and operational cost.
Proper insulation is also paramount for the safety of power plant personnel.

Insulating Natural Gas Power Plants

Our company services the 360 megawatt Millennium Power Plant in Charlton, MA, a natural gas fueled combined cycle generating facility.

Maintenance servicing can be performed either during operating hours or shutdowns. We install high-temp removable bag insulation for their gas and steam turbines - custom-fitted and tagged for easy removal and re-assembly.

We also perform upgrade servicing for build-outs or renovations. We use mineral wool or fiberglass insulation for pipes or for personnel protection. Then piping is protected with metal jacketing to prevent it being disturbed or damaged.

We often work alongside and in conjunction with other trades people, such as millwrights, pipefitters and HVACs.
